UNIQUE - Rover 414 SLi
Electric conversion.
This car is powered by
an electric motor and batteries and has no engine or
petrol tank or exhaust.
It is great fun to
drive and glides along silently.
It
has 11 months MOT and has 11 months TAX (free for
electric cars)
It
has low mileage and only has 4,189 showing on the clock
It is powered by a set
of 12 trojan traction batteries stored under the bonnet
and in the boot, Each battery is 6 volts. The total
voltage is 72V. It has a charger which plugs into the
mains and charges the car overnight though a charge
lead. The charger needs to be under cover, I keep it in
my garage, it is fairly big and quite heavy.
Costs under £1 to charge
I would say the
car needs a new set of batteries to restore its
performance. It is only acheiving about 6 - 10 miles
range with no hills at about 20 to 30 mph
The range and speed are
not as good as it used to be - as the batteries are
getting worn however it was capable of doing over 20
miles reaching speeds of 30 MPH - so not breaking any
speed or endurance records - who said saving the planet
was easy !!!
The car would be most
suited to town or city driving perhaps as a second car
for short trips - school runs etc
MOT is easier to pass as there are no emissions etc.
The car has been approved by DVLA and certified as
taxation class "Electric" and has FREE ROAD TAX and no
congestion charge.
