write a Review about the Renault
Scenic
Since its inception in
1996, the Renault Scénic set the ball rolling for the compact MPV market
in Western Europe and has been the best-seller every year since then.
The Renault Scénic’s
trademark virtues of innovative design, on-board refinement, style and
versatility are taken to a whole new level with the New Scénic 2006
range, starting with the new flagship 2.0 dCi 150hp engine which has
recently appeared to considerable acclaim on the Mégane, Laguna and
Espace ranges, plus the first diesel automatic for Scénic II – the 1.9
dCi 130 FAP Auto (particulate filter).
The diesel engines
ranges from 1.5 to 2.0 litres and boast a power output of between 86 to
150hp. The 1.9-litre diesel is also equipped with a periodic
regeneration particulate filter (FAP).
All these powertrains
combine driving pleasure with environmental friendliness thanks to CO2
emissions that are amongst the lowest in this class. For example, the
dCi 106 6-speed offers some of the greenest credentials in its class,
with CO2 emissions of 144 grams per kilometre and an
impressive 52.3 miles per gallon on a combined cycle.

Renault Scenic automatic petrol: This car does everything
I require of it and any reservations are minor ones. It is not the
greatest for fast cornering owing to high build but is more than
adequate for the steady user. It is economical enough in general use -
32-35 mpg all round.
Rear space is good, though seats are heavy and cumbersome to remove.
Seat and roof heights are good, which I require.
I would like a diesel automatic and would consider a lpg conversion for
extra economy.
The automatic change is not as controllable the wipers stopping when
vehicle is stationary, which can be inconvenient. The driver is capable
of making this deciasion. Also I note that the car's safety rating is
good.
Now I only do less than 6000 miles a year but I would still like more
economy. I would certainly have another. Only significant breakdowns in
three years have been a dynamo pulley coming off and a defunct battery,
for which you can't really blamre the car. Not a 'driver's car' in the
Top Gear mode, but I have found it a thoroughly good choice for a driver
who no longer finds it fun constantly fixing things.

Scenic 1.5dt 80 bhp dynamique: Owned this
motor for 3.5 yrs, economy is outstanding 54 mpg average over a full
tank of derv. Uses no oil, water etc... Tyres bit pricey & rear discs,
broke down once as earth strap at rear of engine snapped & one other
time as battery died (wear n tear)
electrics are pants, heater resistor broke so works 2 speeds only & n/
side windows electrics not workin & pricey to fix so cardboard shoved in
to stop them dropping down. Got three little ones who are rough with it
to say the least, interior blinds bit flimsey but seems to be standing
up to daily punishment. Still scrubs up well & nearly six yr old now, v
cheap tax and insurance, dealer servicing pricey so mine gets done with
clubcard points at Nationwide Autocentres where all fluids are changed &
filters once a year although serv ints are 18000 miles or two years. To
sum up cost me nothing to run, keeps going, flimsy electrics which let
it down, big boot, average on motorway but great around town, big boot
and flexible seating. Would have another but the 1.5 100 bhp 7 seater
for extra space & little more power, 8 out of 10 overall.
