Edison utilises Smith’s latest battery and
power train technology, housed in the instantly-recognisable Ford
Transit shell. Smith Edison vans are capable of 50mph and a range of up to 150 miles
on one battery charge, while still providing up to 1,500kg of payload.
Smith Edison vans are available as a panel
van (medium or high roof), both with GVW of 3.5 tonnes, a 4.25 tonne
mini bus with 15 seats of Chassis Cab with a choice of box,
refrigerator, tipper of drop side bodies.
Powered by advanced sodium nickel chloride batteries, Edison emits none
of the diesel exhaust air pollutants which are harmful to humans,
including Particulate Matter and Nitrous Oxide. If charged with
electricity from a renewable energy supplier, it also provides a 100%
reduction in CO2 emissions.
Smith electric vehicles require no fuel
therefore running costs are as low as £0.04 per mile. They benefit
from FREE road tax and are congestion charge exempt. With few
moving parts, they are easy to maintain and have less to go wrong.
