Green Motion, Europe’s first
environmentally-friendly car and van hire network, has just
taken delivery of 18 new Citroën cars and commercial vehicles
for use at its newly opened vehicle rental outlets in Oxford,
Palmers Green, North London and Milton Keynes.
The innovative new hire company’s
initial batch of fuel efficient, low CO2 emissions Citroëns
includes C1 1.4HDi city cars, C4 1.6HDi, EGS hatchbacks, Grand C4
Picasso 1.6HDi EGS MPVs and C2 Enterprise 1.4HDi (the UK’s lowest
emissions, most fuel efficient diesel van), as well as C2 and C3 Stop &
Start-equipped superminis.
All of these vehicles have been
supplied by Citroën dealer Evans Halshaw, Stony Stratford and are being
operated on Citroën Contact Motoring contract hire agreements.
Richard Lowden, Green Motion’s managing director, comments, “Citroën
cars and light commercial vehicles are an ideal match for our business
proposition. Using practical and affordable technology, Citroën vehicles
deliver exceptional fuel economy, combined with very low CO2
emissions, without any compromise of the driving experience. Also, as
they are affordable, we can offer these vehicles to our customers at
competitive rental rates, which greatly increase their appeal to our
environmentally-aware customers.”
Citroën offers over 20 low CO2
(120 or less g/km) emissions vehicles, one of the widest ranges of its
type available in the UK. The company has pioneered affordable and
practical emissions-reducing and economy boosting technology including
Stop & Start, Electronic Gearbox Systems (EGS) and self-regenerating
Diesel Particulate Filter Systems (DPFS).
During 2008 Green Motion is expanding
its network through the UK, by means of franchising. It will thus
considerably increase the number of Citroëns it operates as it opens
approaching 30 new vehicle rental outlets. By the end of the year Green
Motion plans to increase its current fleet of around 100 vehicles to
about 2,500, ranging from light commercials to executive cars and is set
to include a large number of Citroën cars and vans.

market for environmentally responsible vehicle hire. As Citroën is one
of the UK’s most pro-active suppliers of fuel efficient, low CO2
emissions vehicles it will play a major part in the expansion of our
fleet during the course of this year,” Richard Lowden explains.
