The design
of the Connaught Type-D is revolutionary: a four seater
combining excellent ride, handling, performance with low
costs of ownership, good fuel economy and low emissions.
The 22.5° V10 engine is supported by an additional electric
motor. This technology enables the Connaught Type-D to
sit noiselessly in traffic by turning off the petrol engine;
when the throttle is pressed, silently restarting the engine
smoothly and instantly as the car moves away.
The steel
light weight safety frame and technologies employed in
manufacture of the Type-D result in a vehicle which is
20-30% lighter then the competition, with a 50/50 weight
balance. Max power of 162bhp (120kW) is achieved and
192Nm (144lb ft) of torque. The weight has been limited to
just 850 kg. Less weight offers significant
improvement in acceleration, handling, and fuel economy.
