Volvo C30 Biofuel

Currently the entry versions of Volvos latest C30 hatchback is the 1.6-litre diesel.  Volvo quote a combined-cycle average of 57.6mpg and CO2 emissions of just 129g/km.

The Swedish market however will have a FlexiFuel version of the petrol 1.8 which can run on E85 bioethanol.  That will be offered in other markets later as Volvo expand its Flexifuel lineup to other European countries including the UK and Ireland.  Volvo has stopped making cars that run on biogas and natural gas, signalling a shift toward other alternative fuels and has already sold approximately 5,500 ethanol cars in Sweden alone.
