Citroen UK has announced the next phase in
its Electric Vehicle (EV) sales development programme. Key elements in
this integrated plan for growth are; a significant OTR price reduction
to just £21,216 after the Governmentís £5,000 Plug-in Car Grant; a
monthly rental reduction to just £249; and a significant increase in the
size and coverage of CitroŽn UKís EV Specialist Dealer Network.
Supporting C-Zeroís new price positioning,
CitroŽn has confirmed that it will extend its EV Specialist
sales network from 11 to 21
dealers. The additional 10 sites will be located in UK cities not
covered by the original CitroŽn EV network. Further expansion is set to
continue as part of a staged roll-out as market acceptance of electric
vehicles increases and sales volumes grow.
CitroŽn has also confirmed that the
aftersales EV network will be
extended from the 11 initial specialist dealers to a network of around
100 locations over the coming months. All of the newly appointed EV
service dealers have already received specialist training as part of the
DS5 Hybrid4 launch, allowing them to service and repair C-Zero and
future CitroŽn EV models.
CitroŽnís EV range will grow at
the beginning of 2013 with the
introduction of a new electric
Berlingo van, which will qualify
for the recently announced
extension to the Governmentís EV
grant, with a maximum of £8,000
support towards the purchase
price of electric commercial
Linda Jackson, CitroŽn UKís Managing
Director, commented; ď2011 marked the introduction of EVís in the UK.
2012 will see the market continue to grow as the technology becomes more
accepted by consumers, more manufacturers enter the market and the
charging infrastructure continues to develop. CitroŽn has been at the
forefront with C-Zero and this latest announcement confirms the next
stage in our development plans.Ē
Motoring journalist and EV advocate,
Quentin Willson, commented; "I think this is great news for both
consumers and businesses and itíll make owning a C-Zero more cost
effective. Iíve been running one for 6 months and canít imagine life
without it. This is the future for city drivers."
